Doctoral Position in Paleolithic/Cognitive Archaeology

Applicants for this Ph.D. student position must hold a Master’s or equivalent degree in archaeology, prehistory, or a related field. The ideal applicant will have a good knowledge of current research topics and issues surrounding the technologies and behaviors of modern humans across the Late Pleistocene. Previous research background on topics related to technological and/or cognitive capacities of modern humans will be considered a plus

The position requires studying archaeological assemblages towards the goal of understanding technological and/or behavioral dynamics across the period of focus. Region of interest is minimally flexible, and readiness to work on eastern African archaeological material is particularly encouraged. The successful applicant may be specifically expected to travel to countries in this region to study artifacts housed in museums, and possibly conduct a short fieldwork.
