Job opening for an Africanist at Indiana University

[Emplois, bourses, prix]

août 2014
Bloomington

The Department of Anthropology at Indiana University Bloomington seeks to hire an anthropologist at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track) to start August 2014 with PhD in hand.
We are particularly interested in a scholar with substantial ethnographic research in Africa (open regional location) and whose research program involves one or more of the following : food studies, health, globalization and development, human-environment interactions. We seek a scholar committed to field research who could potentially integrate ethnography with an array of qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies, work across subfields, build interdisciplinary research collaboration and share our department’s concerns with human rights and research ethics. The candidate should demonstrate ability and interest in a teaching program that would include large introductory socio-cultural classes.

Applications must be received by December 10 2013.

We plan to conduct preliminary interviews at the AAA and ASA meetings.
