The Curt-Engelhorn-Centre Archaeometry gGmbH is a nationally and internationally operating research institute providing services in the field of archaeometry. Founded in 2004, the institute comprises the Laboratory for Material Analysis and the Klaus-Tschira-Archaeometry-Centre for Dating Methods and is associated with the University of Heidelberg.
We invite applications for a PhD candidate in European and Mediterranean Archaeology as part of a highly transdisciplinary research project (funded by the European Research Council, 7th Research Framework Programme) which focuses on archaeology, history, geochemistry and geology to decipher the enigma of the origin of a material that emerged in the third millennium BC and gave an entire cultural epoch its name, namely the alloy of copper and tin called bronze.
