CerAfIm_Africa CerAfIm is a working group gathering Africanist ceramologists who share studies and reflections on African impressed ceramics decorations dating back to periods ranging from the early Holocene to modern periods.

CerAfIm main goals are compiling a descriptive terminology and providing an iconographic reference system for decorative patterns (developing reference systems and providing a study methodology).

Since 2005, the group has been extending the work initiated by CISEM (Céramique Imprimée du Sahara Et ses Marges – Impressed Ceramics from Sahara and its Borders) in October 2000 (see 1st CISEM Round Table), through work sessions (see CerAfIm works) or participations to international meetings (see Lectures and conferences).
