4. Simple Incision

Incision is the action of cutting into the clay to draw motifs.
It leaves a V-shaped groove in the surface of the vessel, the edges of which can be raised or wrinkled depending on the dryness of the clay when it is incised.(cf. Balfet et al. 1983).
